Job summary

Cumming Group is seeking a Cost Manager/Quantity Surveyor in Aliso Viejo, CA, to work on diverse projects and support cost management from estimates through change orders. This role offers growth within a dynamic, fast-growing consultancy with a broad client base and project types.

You will develop budgets, analyze scope, and build unit costs while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients. This position emphasizes accurate cost control and effective communication.

Qualifications

• BS in Construction, Cost & Commercial Management or related field.
• 3+ years experience post undergrad in related field.
• Pursuing MRICS/AssocRICS/CCP/CEP or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Develop budget estimates by performing quantity take offs using plans and specifications, or conceptual information.
• Review, interpret and define the scope of assigned work as described in the project documents.
• Build up unit costs based on understanding of labor and material rate structures.
• Develop and nurture subcontractor/vendor and client relationships.
• Prepare and deliver summary analysis for assigned scope of work.
• Evaluate change orders and peer review of estimates.
• Lead the development of estimates for projects under the supervision of their manager.
• Attendance at work during normal business hours.

We are hiring a Cost Manager or Quantity Surveyor in Aliso Viejo, CA. This internal role will provide the opportunity to work on a number of projects with various clients and sectors. Come join our team!

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop budget estimates by performing accurate quantity take offs using plans and specifications, or conceptual information.
• Review, interpret and define the scope of assigned work as described in the project documents.
• Build up unit costs based on understanding of labor and material rate structures.
• Understand local market conditions and solicit feedback where applicable.
• Develop and nurture subcontractor/vendor and client relationships.
• Prepare and deliver summary analysis for assigned scope of work.
• Evaluate change orders and peer review of estimates.
• Assist with the continuous cost management process.
• Review, analyze, quantify, and assess change orders.
• review and understand commercial contract terms.
• Participate in local industry events.
• Develop and implement risk and value management exercises on projects.
• Lead the development of estimates for projects under the supervision of their manager.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Attendance at work during normal business hours.

Preferred Education and Experience

Education: BS in Construction, Cost & Commercial Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field

Experience: more than 3 years’ experience post receiving undergraduate degree working in related field

Preferred Certification: Working towards Professional Certification – MRICS, AssocRICS, CCP, CEP, CPE or equivalent.

The salary range for this full-time role is $95,000.00-$126,666.68 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
