Job summary

Currie & Brown is seeking a cost manager for a North Carolina project. You will support project leaders in delivering high standards of service, sharing knowledge, and strengthening our reputation as a trusted adviser.

Responsibilities include cost reporting and forecasting, cost control, interfacing with estimating, procurement, scheduling and finance, and producing unbiased final cost estimates. A minimum of five years in pharma cost management is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
  • Five+ years’ cost management/cost reporting experience in the pharma sector.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, process piping/plumbing equipment.
  • Ability to visualize and quantify project requirements.
  • Knowledge of estimating and cost control applications.
  • Demonstrated pricing analysis, modeling and benchmarking skills.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and negotiation abilities; self-managing.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking construction project cost reporting and analysis across interfaces with estimating, procurement, scheduling and finance.
  • Implement cost control, schedule and progress reporting.
  • Monitor cost performance and variances from budget.
  • Produce accurate/unbiased cost forecasts and final cost estimates.
  • Provide early warning of adverse cost trends and recommend corrective actions.
  • Forecast final project cost based on actual vs. budget.
  • Support client invoicing and purchase order management.
  • Assist with project cost estimates from concept through development stages.
  • Maintain cost and estimating tools and databases used for project estimates.
  • Participate in industry benchmarking of project metrics.

Job description

Currie & Brown is currently looking for a cost manager for one of our projects in North Carolina. The successful candidate will support project leaders in generating a high standard of service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation, and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider.

Responsibilities for a successful candidate:
  • Undertaking construction project cost reporting and analysis, including significant interface with estimating, procurement, scheduling, document control and finance/accounting when appropriate
  • Assisting and implementing cost control, schedule and progress control reporting
  • Monitoring cost performance to discover and understand variances from the budget
  • Producing accurate/unbiased cost forecasts at a detailed and summary level
  • Identifying and ensuring early warning of adverse cost trends so that corrective actions can be taken
  • Forecasting the final cost of the project based on the analysis of the actual incurred cost against the agreed budget
  • Supporting client account, monthly invoicing, and purchase order management
  • Assisting with project cost estimates from conceptual through various stages of project development using experience, historical data, and parametric ratios
  • Establishing new and maintaining existing cost and estimating tools, methods and databases used to produce project estimates
  • Participating in industry benchmarking of project metrics
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • A minimum of five years’ cost management/cost reporting within the pharma sector
  • Good understanding of mechanical, electrical, process piping / plumbing equipment.
  • Ability to conceptually visualize and quantify project requirements
  • Knowledge of estimating and cost control applications
  • Demonstrate advanced industry knowledge and facilitation skills in pricing analysis, modeling, purchase price cost analysis and identifying competitive benchmarks
  • Exceptional time management, prioritization, and negotiation skills. Candidate will be self-managing and require minimum supervision
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft office suite programs
