Job summary

MBP is seeking a Cost Estimator in Northern Virginia to perform multi-trade quantity take-offs and pricing for vertical and horizontal construction projects. You will prepare final deliverables for senior estimators and review peers’ estimates to ensure accuracy.

The role supports large, complex preconstruction estimates and may involve GMP arrangements. Candidates should have 3–7 years in cost estimating, familiarity with A/E/C, and proficiency with BlueBeam and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 3 to 7 years of experience providing cost estimating on vertical and/or horizontal construction projects.
• Experience in A/E/C industry preferred.
• Additional experience in general contracting, construction management, CPM scheduling, value engineering, risk management, constructability review, claims analysis, and/or contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Performs quantity take-offs and pricing for multiple trades.
• Prepares and presents final deliverable documentation to internal estimating leads.
• Performs quality checks of fellow team members' estimates.
• Reviews contractor/designer estimates, including GMP arrangements.
• Supports estimate reconciliations with clients and contractors.
• Develops/reviews change order requests.
• Assists with post-construction cost analyses.
• Coordinates project workload with estimating team.
• Participates in training and development of junior estimators.

MBP is looking for a Cost Estimator in the U.S. Northern Virginia area, with experience providing cost estimating on vertical and/or horizontal construction projects during preconstruction. Candidate will have the capability to support the preparation of large, complex estimating deliverables. Additional experience in one or more of the following is desired general contracting, construction management, CPM scheduling, value engineering, risk management, constructability review, claims analysis, and/or contract administration. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Main Duties

• Performs quantity take-offs and pricing for multiple trades.
• Prepares and presents final deliverable documentation to internal estimating leads.
• Performs quality checks of fellow team members' estimates, as needed.
• Performs, reviews, and analyses contractor and/or designer estimates, with specific experience in GMP arrangements.
• Supports estimate reconciliations with clients and contractors.
• Develops and/or reviews change order requests.
• Assists with development and/or analysis of post-construction cost analyses.
• Coordinates project workload with other estimating team members.
• Participates in the training and development of more junior estimators.

Skills and Abilities

• 3 to 7 years of experience providing cost estimating on vertical and/or horizontal construction projects.
• Experience in A/E/C industry preferred.
• Additional experience in one or more of the following desired general contracting, construction management, CPM scheduling, value engineering, risk management, constructability review, claims analysis, and/or contract administration.
• Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
• Proficiency in reading/understanding construction plans and specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Proficiency with BlueBeam and/or other quantity take-off software programs.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Education

• B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant experience that equates to this degree.
• P.E. license, Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Certified Cost Professional (CCP), and/or Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) certification preferred.

STATUS

Full-time

The base salary range for this position is $82,000.00 to $99,000.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on work location, qualifications, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
