• Experience developing estimates in electrical or related scopes is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates per client procedures and requirements.
• Integrate cost estimates with project schedules and BOE/ WBS data.
• Develop basis-of-estimate documentation supporting estimates.
• Collaborate with engineers to align estimates with technical approaches and project activities.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain to obtain current pricing and resources; load estimates into project activities.
• Participate in estimate reviews and implement feedback.

Job Summary

SMSI is seeking a Senior-Level Cost Estimator with Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) experience to support one of our clients in Oak Ridge, TN. This position will be based at the client's Oak Ridge office and will provide cost-estimating expertise in support of their project needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates in accordance with client procedures, standards, and requirements.
• Integrate cost estimates with project schedules and supporting cost narratives.
• Develop accurate, reasonable, and realistic estimates supported by thorough basis-of-estimate documentation.
• Utilize project schedules, the Basis of Estimate (BOE), and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) data dictionaries to develop and maintain estimates.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop estimates that align with the proposed technical approach and P6 activities.
• Identify required resources and coordinate with Supply Chain to obtain current, accurate pricing and resource information.
• Partner with Schedulers to ensure estimated resources are properly loaded onto the appropriate project activities.
• Participate in estimate reviews and incorporate feedback, comments, and revisions as required.

Required Skills/ Abilities

• Minimum ten years of experience developing estimates for engineering, construction, or performance management baselines.
• Specific expertise and experience developing estimates in a relevant area of the scope of work (e.g., electrical).
• Reviews work for completeness as required by project specifications and scope definitions.
• Candidate must have strong problem solving, analysis and interpersonal skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
• U.S. Citizenship

Education

• A four-year degree is preferred. Candidates who do not meet the formal education requirements may be considered based on additional years of relevant experience.
