Job summary

Body Bodwé Technology Services seeks a Cost Estimator to develop independent government cost estimates for long-term projects and maintenance at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.

Role requires 5+ years in federal construction cost estimating, strong coordination with stakeholders, and ability to obtain necessary security clearances. Occasional travel and on-site work are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of federal construction cost estimating.
  • Experience managing or supporting construction projects through estimating, planning, execution, and closeout.
  • Knowledge of construction management principles, scheduling, and contract administration.
  • Ability to coordinate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain Government security clearance(s).
  • Possess/obtain Real ID or Passport for travel.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day project management support for assigned construction and facility engineering projects.
  • Support the COR and/or senior project leadership in the execution of contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with Government stakeholders, contractors, subcontractors, and facility personnel.
  • Review construction schedules, design documents, drawings, and submittals for contract conformance.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Identify construction issues and field conditions; support development of practical solutions.
  • Assist with preparation of Statements of Work (SOWs), cost estimates, and contract modifications.
  • Support acquisition activities including responding to contractor questions and participating in site visits.
  • Attend and support contractor/Government meetings and project coordination sessions.
  • Draft technical input for change orders and contract adjustments.
  • Ensure contractor deliverables meet contractual and technical requirements.
  • Support reporting, documentation, and project status updates for Government stakeholders.
  • Assist with project closeout and turnover activities.

Position Summary

We are seeking experienced Cost Estimator. This individualis responsible fordeveloping independent government cost estimates for long term projects and current maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction projects to support construction and facility engineering operations at the James J. Rowley Training Center (JJRTC), the primary training facility for the United States Secret Service in Laurel, Maryland.

Education, Experience, and Technical Skills

_ Required Education, Experience, and Technical Skills _

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction and cost estimating experience in federal construction projects
  • Experience managing or supporting construction projects through estimating, planning, execution, and closeout phases
  • Strong knowledge of construction management principles, scheduling, and contract administration
  • Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders and project teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required Government security clearance(s)
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Real ID or Passport in order to undergo commercial airfare travel
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license

_ Preferred Education, Experience, and Technical Skills _

  • PMP or other recognized project management certification
  • Experience supporting federal agencies such as DHS, DoD, or similar environments
  • Experience working in active or secure facility environments
  • Familiarity with federal construction contracting processes and documentation standards
Working Environment

This position primarily operates in a professional office setting with standard office equipment and a quiet, climate-controlled environment. While in the office, there is no regular exposure to loud noise, hazardous materials, or heavy machinery.

This role also requires periodic travel to project sites, including locations undergoing renovation or active construction. During site visits, the employee may be exposed to non-temperature-controlled environments, construction noise, dust, and other typical conditions found on job sites. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required during these visits, depending on site conditions. _ While on site visits, an individual in this role will be required to work atypical hours at the request of the client or role demands. _

Physical Demands

_ Sitting/Standing: _ This is not a sedentary role. This role requires the ability to be on your feet moving around a construction site for most of the day interacting with contractors, contractor representatives, and inspecting the construction work that is being performed.

_ Walking: _ This role requires the ability to move about outside in various geographic and building terrains to access a construction site to provide quality assurance services.

_ Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: _ This role requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and ladder climbing to inspect all aspects of building construction to foundations, crawlspaces, and roofs.

_ Using Hands/Fingers: _ This role constantly operates technological office equipment such as laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, and scanners, copiers, and fax machines.

_ Talking/Hearing: _ This role requires constant communication with others in the organization to exchange information, review information, and make decisions about information.

_ Seeing: _ This role requires the ability to see, view, and distinguish all aspects of construction to ensure quality control.

_ Carrying/Lifting: _ This role requires lifting up to 30 lbs to transport technological office equipment, safety equipment, and other needed construction items to and from various workspaces.

Home Office Connectivity Requirements for Hybrid & Remote Positions

To ensure reliable collaboration, client service, and secure access to company systems, the Company requires minimum connectivity standards to be eligible or remain eligible to work in a hybrid or remote capacity. Employees working remotely must maintain broadband internet service capable of consistently supporting video conferencing, VPN connectivity, and cloud-based applications. Hybrid or remote work eligibility may be reassessed if connectivity standards are not met. This includes:

  • Wired broadband service (cable, fiber, or DSL) with at least minimum 100 Mbps download / 20 Mbps upload
  • _ Some positions may require minimum 200-300 Mbps download / 25-35 Mbps upload speed _

Cellular hotspot or fixed wireless cellular services (e.g., T-Mobile Home Internet) may not be used as a primary connection. The Company will comply with all local, state, and federal requirements as it relates to the reimbursement of home internet expenses. Eligibility for reimbursement of home internet expenses is defined in a separate policy.
