What you will do

As a Cost Engineer, you will work with polymer processes such as injection molding, blow molding, thermoforming, and materials like foams, fabrics, ceramics, and more. You will contribute your technical skills at the forefront of technology. Your day will involve product development and sourcing processes. You will analyze the financial constraints of manufacturing process steps to maintain vehicle competitiveness. You will evaluate the cost of hardware components and systems for new truck projects. If you haven't worked with manufacturing process costing before, you will learn on the job. You will become an expert in cost target setting and activity-based cost breakdowns for components and systems based on manufacturing processes. Additional responsibilities:
You will understand the process for the entire Tier 1 delivery unit and detailed BOMs to calculate key complexity cost drivers. You will be responsible for hardware and tooling costs within powertrain, chassis, cab interior/exterior systems, including polymer components related to battery and fuel-cell electric vehicles. Your daily tasks will include capturing manufacturing processes related to hardware and tooling production, both technically and financially. You will also ensure understanding of sustainability requirements. As a team player, you will interact with internal stakeholders and cross-functional peers to build manufacturing costs. We are a global team of Cost Engineers delivering data-driven engineering design, development, and tooling costs to project, product development, and purchasing teams—from concept to industrialization. Our team is based at main sites in Gothenburg, Lyon, Bangalore, Greensboro, and Curitiba, with expertise in software/hardware engineering, chemicals, metallics, and EL/EE. We collaborate to provide detailed, bottom-up costing. We are committed to advancing cutting-edge technology in our products and continuously seek new developments in the industry.

Required qualifications:

  • Specialist knowledge in at least one field: automotive fabrics, acoustics, thermoplastics, thermosets, elastomers; knowledge in tool manufacturing, automation, assembly lines is a plus.
  • Engineer or experienced technician with lean manufacturing experience in automotive or supply chain industries.
  • A degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of manufacturing economics and efficiency.

  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with costing recycled and fossil-free materials.
  • Understanding of global manufacturing costs.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
