Job summary

Moog is seeking a Cost Engineer to join the Space and Defense Group in a hybrid role based in Buffalo, NY. You will develop, analyze, and support cost proposals for government and commercial customers, ensuring compliance with FAR, TINA, and Moog policies.

The ideal candidate has a engineering/finance-related degree, 3+ years of cost engineering experience, proficiency with Excel, and the ability to travel ~20% to customer sites and Moog locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in cost engineering or a related field.
• Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
• Practical knowledge of sales and/or costing principles and practices.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
• Ability to travel approximately 20% to customers and Moog sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead proposal team(s) and build pricing models based on RFPs.
• Develop, analyze, evaluate, coordinate, prepare, and support cost proposals.
• Review RFPs for compliance with specs and policy.
• Ensure Moog Estimating System compliance and interpret RFP requirements.
• Interface with management and other personnel daily.
• Lead reviews of estimates with senior management.
• Present cost estimates to management, customers, and government audits.
• Ensure adherence to FAR, TINA, and Moog policies for cost proposals.
• Support audit requests, fact-finding, and negotiations.
• Support front-end business acquisition with cost and pricing models.

Job Title: Cost Engineer
Reporting To: Cost and Pricing Manager
Work Schedule: Hybrid - Buffalo, NY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Cost Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Cost & Pricing Manager, you will work a hybrid schedule in East Aurora, NY. As a Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, analyzing, evaluating, coordinating, preparing, and supporting cost proposals to both government and commercial customers. Your role will be crucial in ensuring compliance with customer specifications, Moog's policies and procedures, and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).

Responsibilities

• Act as a key leader of the proposal team(s) and build pricing models based on RFP and Moog requirements.
• Develop, analyze, evaluate, coordinate, prepare, and support cost proposals.
• Review Requests for Proposals (RFP) and proposal documents for compliance with customer specifications and company policy.
• Ensure Moog Estimating System compliance and provide interpretation of RFP requirements.
• Interact with personnel and management at all levels; interface and coordinate with other business management personnel on a daily basis.
• Lead reviews of all estimates prior to delivery with review by senior management.
• Prepare and present cost estimates to management, customer representatives, and government audit agencies.
• Ensure adherence to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Truth in Negotiations Act (TINA), and Moog policies and procedures regarding cost proposal preparation, review, compliance, submission, updates/revisions, and negotiations.
• Support audit requests, fact-finding, and negotiation discussions and the program budget baseline process.
• Support the front-end business acquisition process by developing cost and pricing models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in cost engineering or a related field.
• Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
• Practical knowledge of sales and/or costing principles and practices.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to travel approximately 20% to customers and Moog sites to support training and negotiations.

Additional Experience (Nice to Have)

• Pricing, sales or contract related experience.
• Data Analysis and/or Data Analytics Knowledge.
• Understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Truth in Negotiations Act (TINA) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).

Salary Range Transparency

Buffalo, NY $75,000.00-$95,000.00 Annually
