Job summary

Brunel is seeking a Cost Controls Engineer II to support a $1.3B brownfield project in the construction phase. You will provide owner’s perspective cost control, tracking, forecasting, and reporting to project leadership.

Responsibilities include maintaining forecasts, accruals, reviewing contractor costs in SAP, and delivering CSSR-style metrics while collaborating with PM, construction, procurement, and finance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Construction Management or related field.
• Experience supporting cost controls for large industrial, petrochemical, refinery, chemical, energy, or capital projects.
• Strong SAP experience, including cost management, reporting, and project financial tracking.
• Experience preparing and presenting monthly cost reports and project performance metrics.
• Understanding of project forecasting, budgeting, commitments, accruals, and earned value concepts.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control project costs throughout the execution phase of a major capital project.
• Maintain project cost forecasts, commitments, accruals, and actual expenditures.
• Prepare and deliver monthly cost reports, including CSSR and other project performance reporting requirements.
• Analyze cost trends, identify variances, and provide recommendations to improve project cost performance.
• Support project managers and leadership with cost forecasting and budget management activities.
• Review contractor cost reports, invoices, and progress updates to ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Coordinate with construction, procurement, project controls, finance, and contractor teams to maintain accurate project financial data.
• Track commitments and expenditures within SAP and ensure data integrity across reporting systems.
• Assist with management presentations, cost performance reviews, and project status updates.
• Support risk identification and evaluate potential cost impacts to project execution.
