Job summary

ASRC Energy Services, LLC is seeking a Cost Controller to plan, monitor, and control project costs across all phases of the Alaska exploration project. You will ensure cost visibility, accurate forecasting, and timely reporting to support informed decisions.

The role requires 5+ years in cost control within oil & gas, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and strong Excel/reporting skills. Preference for SAP experience and prior Arctic/remote project exposure.

JOB SUMMARY

The Cost Controller is responsible for planning, monitoring, and controlling project costs across all phases of the Alaska exploration project. The role ensures cost visibility, accurate forecasting, and early identification of variances and risks, supporting informed decisionmaking and compliance with corporate and partner requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Develop and maintain project cost control structures, including WBSaligned cost breakdowns.
  • Establish and manage project budgets, cost baselines, and control accounts.
  • Track actual costs against AFE, commitments, and forecasts across drilling, logistics, permitting, studies, and support contracts.
  • Implement cost control procedures consistent with company project control standards.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts at completion (FAC/EAC), and variance analyses.
  • Identify cost trends, risks, and opportunities; proactively flag potential overruns.
  • Support generation and tracking of cost contingencies for drilling and subsurface uncertainties.
  • Provide clear, concise cost input for management and partner reporting.
  • Maintain the commitment register, ensuring alignment between contracts, POs, and budgets.
  • Verify contractor invoices against contractual terms, rates, and approved scopes.
  • Liaise with SCM, Finance, and Contracts teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely approvals.
  • Support cost impact assessments for scope changes, well design contingencies, and schedule shifts.
  • Maintain a cost risk register and support management of mitigation actions.
  • Provide cost input to management of change (MOC) and AFE revisions.
  • Work closely with Project Management, Drilling, Subsurface, Logistics, HSE, and Permitting teams.
  • Interface with partners (where applicable) to ensure transparency and alignment on cost reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and governance processes.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • 5+ years of work experience in cost control / project controls within oil & gas
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and reporting tools
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and cost control tools
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills
  • Thorough understanding of AFE management, drilling cost structures, and logisticsheavy operations
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • SAP or similar ERP experience
  • Understanding of drilling, exploration, and logistics workflows
  • Experience supporting projects in remote or Arctic / Alaska environments

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you.All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift.Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp.Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc.Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

The physical demands and work environment requirements outlined below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
