Job summary

Douglas Dynamics seeks a Cost Analyst to own cost accounting for engineered-to-order manufacturing, driving job costing, standard costs, and inventory valuation. You will partner with estimating, engineering, and operations to ensure accurate cost data for quotes and margin visibility.

The role emphasizes strong analytical skills, collaboration across teams, and support for month-end closing and ERP upgrades. A BA/BS in accounting or finance is required, with ERP experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required.
• 3–6 years cost accounting or manufacturing accounting experience, ideally in a job-shop/ETO environment.
• Ability to work independently on job costing, variance analysis, and inventory reconciliation.
• Experience with ERP systems supporting job costing and inventory management (Epicor experience a plus).
• CMA or CPA a plus.
• Working knowledge of standard costing, BOMs, routings, and overhead allocation.
• Results-driven mindset with focus on accurate, timely cost data for quoting and margins.

Responsibilities

• Own cost accounting for engineered-to-order manufacturing operations, incl. job costing and standard cost maintenance.
• Lead by example and promote Winning Behaviors across teams.
• Maintain and update job costing and standard cost records.
• Perform monthly inventory reconciliation and support accurate inventory and COGS reporting.
• Analyze and report on job-level cost variances and root causes.
• Collaborate with estimating and engineering to refine standard costs and overhead rates.
• Support month-end close activities and ERP upgrade testing related to costing.
• Provide ad hoc cost analysis for quoting, make-vs-buy decisions, and margin reviews.
