Job summary

National Nonwovens in Easthampton, MA is seeking a Cost Accountant to maintain data integrity in the manufacturing environment and convert data into insightful reports for the balance sheet and income statement in accordance with GAAP.

The role involves processing production transactions, tracking variances, and supporting management with detailed cost analyses and timely costing for new and existing products to ensure accurate pricing and profitability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting (preferred).
  • 3-5 years cost experience in a manufacturing environment; general accounting experience a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • BOM/Router experience a plus.
  • Cycle counting and physical experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task.
  • Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Process and distribute weekly backlogs by plant, noting by customer, by sales order summary of product information, order date, and promised ship date.
  • Maintain daily input and processing of all production transactions to include product consumption and allocation for product manufacture to include input of production finishes for all production orders.
  • Maintain daily input and processing of all earned production hours reported by production order and work center for timely and accurate production order processing detailing overall production order activity and associated costs and variances.
  • Review and examine production order results for accuracy in reporting and for reasonableness of material used, finished, and production hours reported based on established BOM/Router allowed amounts.
  • Continual review and discussion with production staff, supervisors, and plant managers to obtain and document detailed explanations for production order variances from standard, noting the detailed reasons for material and/or overhead variances resulting from the data input for production related activity.
  • Prepare weekly a detailed schedule for all production orders with a +/-$500 variance from standard by plant noting detailed production information to include reported scrap, noting Material, Overhead, and Total Variance for each production order with detailed explanation of variances for product consumption, finishes, and work center run times vs. standard.
  • Continual perpetual inventory review and verification coming from production order reporting and variances to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the perpetual inventory system.
  • Weekly prepare a YTD Detail Sales +/- schedule noting by customer, by invoice, the sales order amounts vs. invoiced and the dollar variance by order.
  • Gross Margin analysis on manufactured products falling short of the standard guidelines for product profitability, detailing the review results for cost and/or list price amount.
  • Product costing as required for new product development or as required for existing products where raw material and/or capacity changes have occurred supplying corporate management with accurate and timely costing information and layers of BM $ and %'s for setting the List Price.
