Job description

Your Leadership. Our Power. Unlimited Potential. Taylor Corporation has big plans for the future and we need talented leaders to get us there. We power the world’s leading brands ― and our employees’ careers ― by unlocking potential everywhere we see it. If you love to lead, are open to new ideas and inspire the best in others, we should talk. We’re passionate about our work, we believe there is always a better way, and we’re looking for professionals like you. Want to be part of something powerful? It’s time to look at Taylor.

Your Opportunity:

Taylor Corporation is looking for a Cost Accounting Manager to join our Corporate Finance team. This newly created role will help shape and advance cost accounting practices across our manufacturing businesses operating on the Oracle ERP platform. You’ll initially partner closely with a large manufacturing business currently operating on Oracle, bringing deep manufacturing cost accounting expertise and strong Oracle functional knowledge to strengthen end-to-end processes, policies, controls, and reporting. You’ll work across Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Information Technology to improve cost accuracy and visibility, solve complex process and system issues, and provide meaningful financial insights to the business. As Taylor continues its transition to Oracle, you’ll have the opportunity to help create a scalable, consistent approach to cost accounting across the enterprise, applying your manufacturing and ERP experience to build sustainable processes and drive continuous improvement.

Work Authorization:

To be considered for the Taylor opportunities, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain consistent cost accounting policies, procedures, controls, and reporting practices
  • Lead costing activities, including setting annual labor, variable overhead, and fixed overhead rates, reviewing manufacturing variances, and inventory valuation
  • Monitor cost and inventory results, identify trends and issues, and partner with business teams to resolve root causes
  • Serve as a Finance subject matter expert for Oracle cost accounting and related manufacturing and inventory processes
  • Partner across Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Information Technology to improve processes, strengthen controls, and support Oracle system enhancements
  • Provide analysis and insights into manufacturing costs, variances, inventory, and operational performance to support business decisions
  • Develop scalable cost accounting practices that can be leveraged as additional Taylor businesses transition to Oracle
  • Support financial close, financial controls, and internal and external audit requirements related to manufacturing costs and inventory
You Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience in manufacturing cost accounting
  • Strong knowledge of costing, manufacturing variances, inventory valuation, material, labor, overhead, and period-end cost accounting
  • Demonstrated experience developing, improving, or standardizing cost accounting processes
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial controls
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting, process, data, and system issues
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships across Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, and Information Technology
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex accounting and system concepts into practical business solutions
We Would Also Prefer:
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and/or Oracle Cost Management
  • Experience establishing or redesigning manufacturing cost accounting processes as part of an ERP implementation or transformation
  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing locations or business units
  • CPA or CMA certification and/or MBA
What Will Make You Successful:

You bring the technical depth of an experienced manufacturing cost accounting professional while seeing beyond the numbers to the processes and systems that create them. You are comfortable getting into the details to solve a costing issue, but you can also step back and determine how the solution can become a better, more consistent way of working across the enterprise. You are collaborative and curious, enjoy solving complex problems, and know how to build credibility across Finance and Operations. Most importantly, you see transformation as an opportunity to make things better, not simply different.

Salary and Compensation:

The anticipated annual salary for this position is $130,000. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The range listed is just one component of Taylor Corporation’s total compensation and benefits package for employees.

Benefits:
  • Our employees enjoy a comprehensive benefit package including a choice of several health plans, dental, vision, wellness programs, life and disability coverage, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off (PTO) and 64 hours of annual holiday pay.
Other Notes:

The Employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.
