We are partnering with a highly respected, growing manufacturing organization to identify a Senior Cost Accounting Manager to provide leadership across cost accounting, inventory governance, and financial controls within a complex, multi-site environment.

This is a high-visibility opportunity for a technically strong accounting leader who understands both the financial and operational sides of manufacturing. The right candidate will bring the technical depth to oversee inventory accounting and costing while also partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Finance, and executive leadership to strengthen controls, improve processes, and drive greater financial visibility.

The ideal profile combines Big 4 or large public accounting experience, a CPA, and progressive corporate accounting experience within manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and continuously improve cost accounting and inventory-control policies, procedures, and governance across manufacturing and distribution locations
  • Provide oversight of inventory valuation, standard costing, reserves, obsolescence, slow-moving inventory, and manufacturing variances
  • Oversee cycle-count and physical-inventory programs, including compliance, reporting, reconciliation, and remediation
  • Analyze inventory adjustments, discrepancies, and variances and lead root-cause analysis and corrective-action initiatives
  • Ensure inventory and cost-accounting practices comply with GAAP, company policies, and established internal controls
  • Lead inventory-related activities associated with monthly, quarterly, and annual close
  • Partner with Corporate Accounting and FP&A on inventory reconciliations, costing trends, margin analysis, and financial reporting
  • Establish KPIs, executive-level dashboards, and standardized reporting to improve visibility into inventory performance and risk
  • Serve as a strategic accounting partner to Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Warehouse Management, and plant leadership
  • Support internal and external audits, control testing, documentation, and remediation efforts
  • Identify control deficiencies and process inefficiencies and implement scalable solutions across the organization
  • Support ERP enhancements, systems implementations, reporting improvements, and automation initiatives
  • Provide technical accounting guidance, leadership, and development to accounting and operational teams
  • Drive continuous improvement and greater consistency across cost accounting and inventory processes
Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; advanced degree preferred
  • Big 4 or large national public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • 7–12+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Significant manufacturing, cost accounting, inventory accounting, or operational controllership experience
  • Leadership experience within a complex or multi-location organization
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, standard costing, inventory valuation, manufacturing variances, reserves, internal controls, and financial reporting
  • Experience supporting or leading SOX controls, external audits, and financial-control environments
  • Demonstrated success identifying accounting and operational risks and implementing process and control improvements
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to effectively influence Finance and Operations leadership
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or another sophisticated ERP environment
  • Advanced Excel, financial analysis, and reporting capabilities
  • ERP implementation, finance transformation, automation, or systems-enhancement experience is highly desirable
Why This Opportunity

This role offers the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on a growing manufacturing organization while gaining significant exposure across Accounting, Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain leadership.

It is particularly well suited for a CPA with Big 4 or large public accounting experience who has transitioned into manufacturing, cost accounting, operational accounting, or controllership and is looking for a broader leadership opportunity.
