Job summary

The Watkins Company, a pioneer in natural flavoring products, is hiring a Cost Accounting Assistant in Winona, MN. This full-time role supports cost reporting, standard costs, and monthly closings as part of a collaborative accounting and production team.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree in accounting/finance or related experience with at least 6 months in cost accounting or financial analysis, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Hybrid schedule and comprehensive benefits are offered.

• Possess or are working toward associates degree in accounting, finance, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 months working in an accounting function related to cost accounting, financial analysis, and/or general accounting.
• Demonstrate intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Aggregates and compiles accounting cost reports showing total cost, selling prices, rates profits, or other cost information needed for proper cost accounting.
• Calculates individual items, such as labor, materials, and time costs, relationship of sales or revenues to cost, and overhead expenditures.
• Prepares and examines records such as time and production sheets, timekeeping and payroll records, operations charts, and schedules, to obtain data for calculations.
• Assists in developing and maintaining accurate standard costs for current and new products.
• Works closely with the Accounting and Production teams and performs analysis as needed.
• Assists in monthly closing activities as they relate to the areas of COGS - including standard costs, freight, manufacturing costs and all variances.
• Works with the Accounting team on the annual physical inventory process.
• Maintains and ensures accurate and timely perpetual inventory and General Ledger reconciliation.
• Assists in providing analysis to internal customers.
• Assists in other general accounting areas, as needed.

The Watkins Company is excited to announce the opening for a full time, Cost Accounting Assistant located in Winona, MN. The duties and responsibilities of the Cost Accounting Assistant include, but are not limited to the following:
