Job summary

Goodwill Southeast Georgia is seeking a cost accounting analyst to review and analyze materials, labor, and overhead costs for the G-Force Manufacturing unit. You will work with management to determine standard costs, support monthly close, and maintain cost accounting records.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least five years of accounting experience, with strong Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Office Suite. On-site position in Savannah, GA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial matters.
  • Proficiency in cost accounting theory and practice with at least five years of experience.
  • Solid understanding of balance sheet and income statement.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Office Suite.

Job description

Performs cost accounting review and analysis related to materials, labor, and overhead. Accounting duties requiring sound knowledge of cost accounting principles and practice including analytical functions in accordance with agency requirements. Responsible for working with management to determine materials and labor usage and determining standard cost for each product manufacture for G-Force Manufacturing unit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Performs additional accounting functions including:
  2. Assists in the monthly financial reporting activities and closing process on a timely and accurate basis for areas of responsibility, providing complete and accurate analysis of the results.
  3. Assists G-Force personnel with Cost Accounting Procedures as needed in conjunction with the Director of Accounting and CFO.
  4. Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.
  5. Analyzing data collected and recording results
  6. Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
  7. Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
  8. Assist G-Force personnel with updating standard costs, BOMs and routings
  9. Determine scrap generated from manufacturing
  10. Analyzing audits of costs and preparing reports
  11. Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  12. Maintaining Cost Accounting System
  13. Assisting in Month end close of the General Ledger
  14. Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program
  15. Investigate cycle count variances and resolve issues
  16. Managing Gulfstream Accounts Receivable w/ G-force Billing personnel proposing any adjustments for credits or billing to Controller for approval.
  17. Reconciles related balance sheet accounts monthly.
  18. Assists with preparation of work papers for annual external financial audits.
  19. Responsible for accurate, efficient and timely completion of assignments and preserving the privacy of confidential matters.
  20. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks with store cash control personnel.
  21. Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related assignments as needed in a timely and efficient manner.
  22. Assist with other assignments and duties as requested not specifically enumerated in this job description as needed by the Accounting Dept.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required and a minimum of 5 years work experience in public/private Accounting is preferred, which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Excellent knowledge in accounting and financial matters.
  • Proficiency in Cost accounting theory and practice with experience of at least five years.
  • Solid understanding of accounting statements: balance sheet and income statement.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • A positive attitude, team player and process improvement-oriented mindset.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics NAV
  • Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured under the company’s vehicles insurance policy.
