Job summary

Nextern in Maple Grove, MN is seeking a Cost Accountant to partner with engineering and production teams across US, Costa Rica, Vietnam and China. You will establish, monitor and update standard costing for products, and perform monthly cost variance analysis to support continuous profitability improvements in purchasing and manufacturing yields.

Key duties include preparing BOMs, calculating and reviewing variances (material, labor, overhead), coordinating annual standard cost updates,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• 3+ years of recent cost accounting experience in manufacturing.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Experience with EPICOR or similar ERP systems.
• Ability to work across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Team with Engineering and Production calculate and review standard costs of products.
• Prepare and review bills of materials (BOM’s).
• Analyze job variances and determine appropriate amount of variances to be capitalized monthly.
• Lead global locations annual standard cost update and rolling of annual standard costs; and review output for accuracy.
• Evaluate inventory aging by location working with local operations management and finance team to determine need for inventory reserves.
• Create and input journal entries in EPICOR for the month-end close process related to cost accounting and inventory.
• Support and preparation of audit and tax PBC’s and year-end entries related to costing and inventory.
• Reconciliation of inventory and related accounts.
• Assist with physical counts and cycle counts of inventory.
• Prepare additional journal entries in EPICOR or other accounting duties as assigned.
• Undertake additional tasks as directed by supervisor.

Cost Accountant job at Nextern. Maple Grove, MN.

Responsible for working with global sites in US, Costa Rica, Vietnam and China working with Engineering and production teams in establishing, monitoring standard costing of products; monthly cost variance analysis to assist operations with continuous improvement in our profitability period over period in purchasing and manufacturing yields. This position will also be responsible helping with month-end entries, audits, and other projects as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teaming with Engineering and Production calculate and review standard costs of products

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

• Preferred 3 years plus of recent experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment

• Excellent attention to detail and strong math skills

• EPICOR knowledge preferred or similar systems with strong technical ability & Excel

• Ability to reconcile information, solve complex issues, and adaptable to change

• Strong work ethic; team oriented, and goal orientated

• Ability to work cross functionally with manufacturing, engineering and location controllers

• Strong self-reviewing skills

• Ability to simplify information to a single page to bring actionable information

• Spanish speaking is a plus

• Ability to work in multiple time zones

• The expected salary for this position is between $70,000-$90,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, qualifications.
