Smith Pump Company seeks a Cost Accountant to ensure invoices align with packing slips and POs, verify approvals, and maintain cost records in a hands-on, in-person role at our Waco office.
You’ll review actual costs against POs, prepare invoices, and support the CFO on other accounting projects. Strong Excel, ERP familiarity, and GAAP knowledge are essential; 1+ year in cost/accounting is expected.
Every purchase at Smith Pump has to line up: what we ordered, what we received, and what the vendor billed us. The Cost Accountant is the person who makes sure it does. You match every vendor invoice to its packing slip and purchase order, and when something doesn't match, you find out why and get it fixed.
That means holding project managers and purchasers accountable for purchase orders that are correct and documented. Around here, the best people in this seat get called bulldogs. They see something wrong, they hunt it down, and "it's probably fine" is not an answer they accept.
The work is steady and repetitive, and it rewards consistency. If you're accurate and efficient, there's room to take on more, including supporting our CFO on other projects as needed.

Smith Pump Company is a family-owned company that has been in business for more than 60 years. Based in Waco, we sell, build, and service pumping equipment for cities, water utilities, and industrial customers across Texas and Oklahoma. When a lift station goes down or a treatment plant needs a new pump, our people are the ones who make it right. We hire people who take ownership of their work and want to get better at it.
