Job summary

Texas Hydraulics, Inc. is seeking a Cost Accountant to maintain standard costing, analyze manufacturing performance, and identify cost improvement opportunities supporting Lean initiatives.

This role combines traditional cost accounting with operational analysis to help the business understand manufacturing performance and pursue continuous improvement. You will participate in the monthly close, support inventory accuracy, perform gross margin analysis, and collaborate with manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of standard costing, including bills of materials, routings, work center rates, cost rolls, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Experience with Oracle, Epicor, or other ERP/MRP systems preferred.
  • Ability to analyze large volumes of data and communicate findings through clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly business performance and provide financial insights that support operational decision-making.
  • Maintain the standard cost system, including costing new products and coordinating annual standard cost updates.
  • Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in the monthly financial close process, including general ledger activities and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, inventory reconciliations, reserve calculations, and annual physical inventory activities.
  • Perform gross margin analysis and develop reports that provide meaningful operational and financial insights.
  • Partner with manufacturing leadership to develop accurate product costs using Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Review and analyze capital expenditure requests and related financial justifications.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Support equipment and asset valuation activities as needed.
  • Maintain the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
