Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Cost Accountant for a permanent, on-site role in Fayetteville, AR. You will manage cost accounting activities, inventory valuation, fixed assets, and monthly reporting, partnering with finance and operations to optimize costs and reporting.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in cost accounting, a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with Excel and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in cost accounting or a closely related accounting/finance role.
• Experience in Fixed Asset Accounting, Monthly Reporting, Annual Budget preparation, Inventory accounting, and Ledger management, or equivalent experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, financial controls, and applicable accounting standards.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience working with accounting software or ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage cost accounting activities, ensuring accurate cost allocation, inventory valuation, and financial reporting.
• Maintain fixed asset accounting records, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, disposals, and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly reporting packages with clear analysis of cost trends, operating performance, and budget variances.
• Support month-end and year-end close through journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Partner with department leaders to develop the annual budget and update forecasts based on operational needs and financial performance.
• Analyze inventory movements, coordinate cycle counts and physical inventories, and investigate discrepancies.
• Review standard and actual costs, identify key variances, and recommend opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
• Maintain accurate ledger balances and ensure transactions comply with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
• Support audits by preparing schedules, maintaining documentation, and responding to information requests.
• Strengthen internal controls and streamline accounting processes to improve accuracy, visibility, and reporting speed.

• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, financial controls, and applicable accounting standards.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience working with accounting software or ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to investigate variances and translate complex financial information into practical recommendations.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with finance and operational stakeholders.
• CPA, CMA, or progress toward a relevant professional certification is an advantage.
