Job summary

Cavco is seeking a Cost Accountant Manager to maintain cost records and support plant operations with transactional accounting and cost analyses. You will work with management to analyze costs, improve processes, and ensure accurate reporting in a manufacturing environment.

The role requires accuracy, data-driven recommendations, and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines. A non-degreed background is acceptable though accounting degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems, applying principles of cost accounting.
• Plans study and gathers data to determine costs of business activity, such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
• Analyzes data obtained and documents results.
• Excludes paraprofessional cost accounting positions.
• Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
• Analyzes actual manufacturing costs, and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
• Other support duties for General Manager, Controller and Purchasing Manager.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The members of the accounting job family ensure that Cavco’s financial books and records are appropriately maintained in a timely and accurate manner. They maintain the chart of accounts, general ledger and all subsidiary ledgers. They process accounts receivables and accounts payable as well as maintain lists of authorized vendors. The accounting group works directly with the external auditors and financial reporting to ensure GAAP and SEC compliance.

The Cost Accountant Manager is a non-degreed accountant (although accounting degree preferred) supporting the operations with transactional accounting processing and coordination of initiatives supporting plant operations. This role works independently executing process steps, conducting analysis, problem solving and delivering recommendations.
