Job summary

Mercor is seeking a Gravitation, Cosmology and Astrophysics Physicist (PhD) for a remote contract. The role involves evaluating AI model training in physics challenges and developing problems for AI model evaluation, over 8 to 10 weeks at about 10 hours per week.

You will collaborate with AI research teams to ensure rigorous model reasoning, review outputs, and provide structured feedback to improve training data quality.

Qualifications

• PhD in gravitation/cosmology/astroparticle physics or closely related field.
• Verifiable publication record with arXiv IDs or DOIs.
• Proficiency in LaTeX, Python, SymPy and Jupyter.

Position: Gravitation, Cosmology and Astrophysics Physicist (PhD)
Type: Contract
Compensation: $80–$110/hour
Location: Remote
Duration: 8 to 10 weeks
Commitment: 10 hours/week

Qualifications

Must-Have

• PhD in gravitation, cosmology, astroparticle physics, or a closely related field.
• Published work on specific phenomena such as torsion, Nieh-Yan, or Chern-Simons terms.
• Verifiable publication record with arXiv IDs or DOIs.
• Proficiency in LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter.
• English at B2 or above, including written reasoning.

Preferred

• Familiarity with an agentic coding extension in VS Code.
