Job summary

CarMax is seeking a Cosmetic Reconditioning Associate II in Sacramento to perform cosmetic inspections, final quality checks, and advanced reconditioning tasks such as paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing. You will help ensure every vehicle meets CarMax quality and appearance standards, delivering confidence to customers at purchase.

You will read data for inventory and QC, work in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate with teammates to support auction prep and vehicle movement on/off

Qualifications

• Completion of CarMax training programs, including online and hands-on modules.
• Ability to read, interpret, and record data accurately for inventory and quality control.
• Skilled in performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing manual tasks for extended periods.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
• Willingness to work in indoor and outdoor conditions, including inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Execute standardized cosmetic reconditioning processes at an established pace to maintain efficiency and quality.
• Perform advanced cosmetic repairs including paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing to restore vehicles to CarMax standards.
• Complete cosmetic and final quality inspections to ensure vehicles meet customer-ready standards.
• Identify defects and determine the best repair methods for optimal results.
• Support auction preparation and assist with vehicle movement on and off the lot.
• Deliver exceptional customer service, collabo rate with team members to achieve goals, support auction preparation, and assist with vehicle movement on and off the lot.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area.

The hourly rate for this position is:

$23.23 - $23.23

Benefits:

• Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.
• Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commission/incentive eligible:
• To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company.
• For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay.
• Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.
