Job summary

Green Bay Packaging in De Pere, WI is seeking a self-motivated machine operator to work safely in a team-based production environment. You will be responsible for reporting time, production, and material usage, prepping rolls, and assisting with startup, running, changing over and cleanup of the machine.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, be able to work all shifts (including nights), and be a reliable team player with good communication.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with machine operations preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work all shifts including rotating or night shift; overtime on weekends.
  • Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and adjust glue and machine equipment safely to meet production needs.
  • Report time, production, and material usage accurately.
  • Prepare rolls for roll stands and place according to the production schedule.
  • Assist crew with startup, running, changing over, and cleanup of the machine.
  • Monitor adhesive system and scrap baler for proper operation and quality.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned.

Job description

  • Works safely and follows all related policies and programs to assure a safe working environment.
  • Responsible for correct reporting of time, production and material usage.
  • Checks paper on hand against what is needed for each production run to ensure shortages are prevented
  • Reports irregularities, maintenance needs and quality problems to the Team Operations Manager
  • Assists crew in startup, running, changing over and cleaning up the machine
  • Setting up and adjusting glue machine
  • Preparing rolls for roll stands and proper placement based on production schedule
  • Bring rolls from storage area to machine using roll clamp truck
  • Using a computer system, sets stacker controls including length, stack count, etc.
  • Monitor adhesive system for proper operation and quality
  • Monitor and maintain plant scrap baler system
  • Using a ruler, verify dimensions on corrugated board to ensure a quality product
  • Troubleshoots machine issues and make recommendations on improving the process
  • Keeps work area clean and orderly
  • Other job tasks and projects as assigned

This position requires a self-motivated individual willing to work safely in a team based system. They need to have the ability to schedule their work, prioritize their work load, and complete tasks in a timely manner. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must. A desire for continuous improvement and quality workmanship are required to meet our customers increasing demands.

Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous machine operations experience in manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
  • Candidates must be able to work all shifts including rotating and/or straight night shift. Overtime including weekends will be required.
  • Good human relations skills and strong verbal communication skills are required.
  • Work as a team to accomplish daily tasks.
