Job Summary

Performs an advanced level of activities involved in the design and maintenance of corrosion control systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced level support with installation, maintenance, and monitoring of corrosion control systems.
• Non‑Destructive Testing on facilities.
• Install, test, adjust, and repair rectifiers, anodes, and test points.
• Troubleshoot and repair interference/foreign contact problems.
• Perform continuity tests and soil resistivity surveys and other special surveys.
• Inspect, calibrate, maintain, and repair cathodic protection tools and equipment.
• Drive and ensure maintenance is complete on company vehicles.
• Complete and update reports and documents, including test readings, atlas pages, maps, plats, diagrams, job orders, completion reports, and equipment maintenance reports.
• Compile, verify, and prepare financial information such as forecasted versus actual expenses, governmental/regulatory reports, financial reports, and reconciliation reports.
• Measure internal, external, and atmospheric corrosion per industry standards.
• Conduct environmental activities as specified by the position.
• Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline.
• Remain alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions.

Qualifications

• No education required.
• 3–5 years of related experience in corrosion control.
• Experience and training in company and governmental operating/safety procedures.
• Experience in construction and maintenance activities.
• Locating lines, One Call System policies and procedures.
• Experience with cathodic protection tools and equipment.
• Familiarity with pipe coating, basic chemistry, electronics, and metallurgy.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, drawings, procedures, survey results, plats, atlas pages, rectifier reports, and operation and repair manuals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Perform basic arithmetic.
• Communicate and exchange written and verbal information.
• Work in confined areas and on elevated surfaces.
• React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury.
• Operate tools and equipment as required.
• Drive for extended periods.

Licenses and Certifications

• Preferred: NACE Cathodic Protection Certification or Corrosion Certification.

Physical Demands

• Heavy work: Exerting 50–100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25–50 pounds frequently.
• Standing, walking, and occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, near and far vision, depth perception, color vision are constant.
• Prolonged vibration, high noise, and exposure to dust, fumes, gases.

Work Conditions

• Inside and outside environments, varying weather conditions, wet or humid areas, extreme cold and heat, dust, fumes, gases, moving mechanical parts, potential electric shock.
• High pitched/loud noises, unprotected heights, repetitive motion, computer monitors.

Travel

Travel to other locations and job sites required. Driving may be required with company vehicle and appropriate driver's license.
