Job summary

Taurus Industrial Group is seeking a Corrosion Engineer to join our Baton Rouge-based team and support on-site client projects.

You will contribute to corrosion control strategies, data analysis, and CCD development while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, efficient operations at client sites in the region.

Qualifications

  • BS or higher in materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related majors.
  • Related research background and/or chemical plant experience is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (ASME, API, NACE, ASTM, ANSI) and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Data collection from design specs, process, inspection, and historical files for vessels and tanks.
  • Perform corrosion research including internal/external rate, mechanisms, and damage evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain Corrosion Control Documents (CCD).
  • Evaluate damage mechanisms for inspection and maintenance audits.
  • Participate in RBI assessment and PFD/P&IDs coordination.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of corrosion issues and suggest improvements.
  • Review PSM operations and corrosion-related changes and management of change.

Position Outline

Due to the continued growth and expansion of our business, we are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Corrosion Engineer based in our Prairieville, Louisiana office.

The Corrosion Engineer will be assigned onsite at client location in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Data collection – from design specification, process, inspection, and historical files for pressure vessels, piping or storage tanks.
  • Corrosion research – Perform corrosion research work, including internal / external corrosion rate, corrosion mechanism, environmental cracks and other damage mechanism evaluation and setting.
  • Corrosion Control Documents (CCD) Development and Maintenance – Develop and maintain a CCD.
  • Evaluation of damage mechanism for inspection and maintenance audit – Perform damage mechanism assessment for inspection, maintenance and audit operations.
  • RBI assessment – Besides identification of damage mechanisms, participate in systemization for Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and circuitization for Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Leakage and VOC escape cause / root cause analysis of damage mechanism research and improvement suggestions – Perform cause/root cause analysis of damage mechanism research and improvement suggestions.
  • Review and audit of PSM operations and corrosion issues –Participate in the review and review of PSM operations and corrosion issues, such as management of change (MOC), process hazard analysis (PHA), accident investigation, etc.
  • Process corrosion problem analysis and improvement suggestions –Analyze and improve suggestions for corrosion/crack problems in the plant.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • BSor higher degree in materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related majors.
  • Related research background and/or chemical plant experience is preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations and applicable industry organization standards and recommended practices (e.g. ASME, API, NACE, ASTM, ANSI). Hold or be able to get certificates of API 510, 570, 571, and 653 within 3 years.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
