St. Luke's University Health Network seeks a Correspondence Technician to manage all release of information requests for the Medical Records Department, coordinating with Finance and other departments across Allentown and Bethlehem campuses.
You will maintain the release of information system, ensure HIPAA compliance, log requests, liaise with risk management on attorney requests and court orders, and support telephone inquiries from patient care units.

The Correspondence Technician shall processes all release of information requests sent to the Medical Records Department. Coordinates requests from Finance Department and all other departments within the hospital. Processes the release of Radiology film and reports for Allentown and Bethlehem campuses. Maintains computerized release of information system that logs all activities in the release of information area. Acts as hospital custodian of medical records for depositions, court proceedings and legal matters. Responsible for maintenance and control of fax machines and CD burners and ordering supplies for copy machine, fax machines and CD burners. Coordinates release of information procedures with the outside service utilized for all billable requests.
Sitting for up to 7 hours per day, 3 hours at a time. May require occasional standing/walking for up to 1 hour per day, 30 minutes at a time. Frequently uses fingers for data entry. Frequent use of hands. Uses upper extremities to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds. May require stooping, bending and/or reaching above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, peripheral vision and visual monotony. May look at pc for long periods of time.
Graduate of an AHIMA approved Accredited Record Technician, RHIT program or a two year legal secretarial program preferred. Working experience in confidentiality/release of information areas preferred.
Minimum of 1 year in the field preferred.
