Job summary

State of Ohio’s Department of Rehabilitation and Correction seeks an Academy Training Developer to design, implement, and evaluate agency training programs within the Corrections Training Academy, Orient site.

The role requires 48 months of training delivery experience, proficiency with LMS/OnBase, and collaboration with subject matter experts; you will lead curriculum development, assessments, and regional trainings to reduce recidivism and improve institutional programming.

Qualifications

• 48 mos. exp. in delivery of training or instructional programs commensurate with area to be assigned based on approved Position Description on file.
• Note: for positions assigned to train in Adult Parole Authority (APA) Firearm certification/re-certification, must be certified OPOTA Trainer per Ohio Administrative Code 109:2-1-06.

Responsibilities

• Requires thorough knowledge of training development and presentations to develop, modify and update agency training activities.
• Assesses designs, develops, implements and evaluates departmental training programs for assigned unit to ensure compliance with policies and standards.
• Attends, instructs and coordinates department training and other program areas as assigned.
• Manages curriculum development projects including overseeing Subject Matter Experts and teams.
• Develops orientation training programs; coordinates and evaluates supplemental programs.
• Creates and run various administrative reports; inputs data into ONBASE.
• Serves as liaison for staff regarding professional development opportunities.
• Develops and manages training programs; directs implementation of policy for specialized in-service training.
• Conducts regional training in the field at public and private prisons.
• Reviews training needs and provides consultative assistance in training program planning.
