Job summary

Bernalillo County is seeking a Corrections Technician for the Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque. You will handle intake and release of inmates, manage records and property, and perform general clerical tasks including data entry, cash handling and customer service.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and 4 years of office/clerical or records experience. Shift work, overtime and attendance are required; strong English communication and computer skills are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; four years of office/clerical/records management experience preferred.
• Ability to work shift, overtime and maintain regular attendance; strong data entry and filing skills.
• Proficient in word processing, data entry and retrieval with clear written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Review, interpret and process legal documents and arrest documents using records systems.
• Collect and review data for statistical reporting to agencies.
• Enter, cancel and modify reports with high accuracy in electronic systems.
• Process incoming documents and maintain records per rules and regulations.
• Receive, account for and release inmate property; ensure safety and proper handling.
• Maintain accurate logs of personal property and assist with releases.
• Investigate missing or lost property; lookup and verify items.
• Control access to files and secure work areas; restrict to authorized personnel.
• Provide customer service to outside agencies, the public and coworkers.
• Provide typing/word processing support; answer calls and take messages.
• Keep work area clean and orderly; support general office tasks.
