Job summary

US Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System is seeking Corrections nursing professionals to foster a humane and secure environment while ensuring public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

To be considered, candidates must hold an active Licensed Practical Nurse license and have at least one year of nursing experience in a hospital, clinic, or similar setting with knowledge of sterile techniques and anatomy.

Qualifications

• Active LPN license in the United States or District of Columbia.
• One year of nursing experience in a hospital, clinic, or related patient care setting.
• Knowledge of sterile techniques and human anatomy.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-operative patient care.
• Observe, record, and report changes in patient condition.
• Offer reassurance and encouragement to mentally ill patients.
• Assist surgeons and registered nurses in operating room activities, including instrument passing and maintaining sterile fields.
• Set up and operate medical equipment and apparatus.
