Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated Corrections Officer to uphold safety and order within a maximum-security setting. The role offers hourly pay and a strong benefits package as part of full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Background check required by Missouri Department of Corrections.
• Complete Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid/CPR training during Basic Training.

Responsibilities

• Maintains security in correctional facility posts and intervenes during emergencies.
• Supervises movement of offenders and conducts counts and searches for contraband.
• Supervises offenders in housing units, during work, and during recreational activities.
• Conducts inspections for health and safety hazards and reports violations or issues.
• Discusses minor behavior issues with offenders and supports rehabilitation efforts.
• Supervises visits and inspections of visitors and facilities for contraband.
• Performs work according to post orders and established rules; accepts general administrative direction.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
