Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to pass a background investigation.
• Ability to complete Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid/CPR training.

Responsibilities

• Maintains security in buildings and posts of an adult correctional facility; intervenes during emergencies or altercations and gains physical control of offenders.
• Supervises movement of offenders inside/outside the facility; conducts counts; searches for contraband; escorts/transports offenders.
• Supervises offenders in housing units and during work, recreation, or religious activities.
• Conducts health and safety hazard inspections; reports violations or deficiencies.
• References offender disruption issues with appropriate staff; promotes rehabilitation and positive behavior.
• Supervises visits with offenders and inspects visitors and areas for contraband.
• Performs duties under established rules and post orders; takes direction.
• Performs other related work as assigned.
