Job summary

Department of Corrections - Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield, SD is hiring a Full-Time Corrections Officer. The role involves maintaining security, enforcing policies, and ensuring the safety of offenders and staff.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid Driver's License.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• No prior education or experience necessary for entry-level status.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control access to the facility and restricted areas.
• Escort and transport offenders in state vehicles, while armed.
• Maintain health, safety and sanitation standards in the facility.
• Respond to emergencies and security breaches; follow post orders and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with inmates, staff and supervisors.
