Job summary

Pima County is hiring a full-time Locksmith to provide journey-level services including installation, maintenance, repair, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of locking systems and access control. The role reports to the Corrections Maintenance Shop at the Main Jail and requires an apprenticeship plus experience in locksmith duties.

Essential duties cover installations, emergency response, key management, and compliance with safety and ADA regulations.

Qualifications

• Completion of an industry-recognized apprenticeship program in locksmithing and one year of journey-level experience.
• Education may substitute for up to six months of the aforementioned experience.
• Five years of journey-level experience or two years with Pima County as a Trades Maintenance Technician are acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Designs, implements, and maintains master key systems and access control across facilities.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs locks and locking systems on doors, cabinets, safes, and gates.
• Responds to emergency lockouts and security incidents, providing secure resolutions.
• Installs and services electronic access control systems including card readers and keypads.
• Rekeys locks and changes lock combinations in response to security concerns.
• Troubleshoots mechanical and electronic locking issues and performs repairs.
