Job summary

The Federal Bureau of Prisons seeks corrections education professionals to foster a humane, secure environment and prepare individuals for successful reentry into our communities. Basic requirements include a bachelor’s degree with specified coursework or an approved combination of education and experience, plus licensure or certification where applicable.

Education and specialized experience may be required for higher grades (GL-09/GS-11) with explicit criteria in literacy and curriculum

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education or combination of education and experience as described in the basic requirements.
Two years of graduate education leading to a master's degree (GL-09) or three years toward a Ph.D. (GS-11).
Teacher certification or licensure proof must be uploaded and linked in USAJOBS if used for qualification.
Experience in literacy, GED, ESL or related instructional programs is considered qualifying experience.

Responsibilities

Develop and modify academic curricula to meet diverse learning needs.
Create and implement lesson plans with clear objectives and assessments.
Plan individualized instructional programs based on assessment data and learning styles.
Maintain records tracking student progress and outcomes.
Identify social and academic needs that affect student progress and adapt instruction accordingly.
