Job summary

The County of Santa Clara is seeking entry-level Sheriff’s Correctional Deputy trainees for a structured academy program in California. Trainees will receive academic, physical, and tactical training under supervision to qualify for correctional duties within the County jail system.

Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States, meet medical and background standards, and demonstrate physical fitness to perform the job's requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Ability to learn and apply departmental policies, rules, and laws pertaining to detention of inmates.
• Must possess legal right to work in the United States.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Attend Academy training classes for corrections.
• Participate in basic training including academic, hands-on, and physical conditioning.
• Engage in defensive tactics training and related drills.
• Perform other duties as required by the Sheriff’s Department.
