Job description

Position: Corrections Officer – Grade 190 – Salary: $31.45/hour – Department: Corrections.

Job Duties

• Interview inmates daily; collect, verify, coordinate, and record inmate information manually and in the current inmate information computer system.
• Enter inmate data into the Objective Jail Classification System that identifies inmates' custody level, assign appropriate housing, determine program needs, and make referrals to education, substance abuse, mental health and other treatment programs.
• Coordinate treatment interventions between divisions such as education, mental health, medical, probation and parole, and other parties.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, administration of justice, or any of the behavioral sciences.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience in secure corrections or related field.
• Four years of experience in a correctional institution.
• Associate’s degree in behavioral sciences or related field with 3 years of work experience in corrections or related field (considered).
• Four years of work experience in a secure correctional institution in lieu of a bachelor’s degree (considered).
• At least 21 years of age.
• Participation in and completion of the detention academy training.
• Submission to and passing of a police background check, drug screen, and physical examination.
