Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is hiring for a probation and parole support role. This position is focused on offender classification, documentation, and coordination with multiple agencies to ensure safe transitions and sound case management.

You will participate in program planning, evaluation of offender status, and provision of pre-release counseling while adhering to department rules and procedures.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of experience in probation, parole, corrections, or related roles within the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• Four or more years of vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework/custody, law enforcement, guidance/counseling, or related fields.
• Earned credit hours may substitute for experience at 30 credits per year.

Responsibilities

• Serve on a classification team; evaluate offender’s adjustment and release plans.
• Secure and verify information from incarcerated offenders; maintain files.
• Assess classification status using AICS, RCA, ICA instruments.
• Act as grievance officer; process IRRs; conduct hearings.
• Process offenders: initial reviews, enemy waivers, updates to enemy lists.
• Maintain open-door policy; handle laundry, property, mail, censorship notices.
• Support offender programs; review visiting applications; provide pre-release counseling.
• Coordinate with public/private agencies; facilitate calls to attorneys and law enforcement.
• Follow rules and perform other duties as assigned.
