Job summary

Qualifications

• Four or more years of experience as a Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant or above within the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• OR Four or more years of vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework/custody, law enforcement, guidance/counseling, mental health, health, substance use, public/business administration, or experience closely related to the listed responsibilities.
• Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.

Responsibilities

• Performs classification duties: evaluates offender adjustment and release plans; prepares recommendations for ORAS & Case planning assignments.
• Secures and verifies information from offenders regarding home life, work history, and other factors; maintains classification files.
• Assesses classification status and prepares analysis for program eligibility determinations using AICS, RCA, ICA instruments.
• Acts as grievance officer; processes IRRs; conducts disciplinary hearings; participates in treatment team meetings.
• Processes offenders: initial file review, protective custody assessment, enemy waivers, updates enemy lists.
• Handles offender concerns (laundry, property, financials, mail, censorship) and notifies of critical illness/death.
