Job summary

West Virginia is seeking a Corrections Case Manager to verify offender participation in substance abuse treatment programs and coordinate with MAT providers upon intake. You will connect offenders reentering the community with clinics offering MAT and assist with housing referrals, birth certificates, Social Security and Medicaid applications.

Further duties include developing treatment programs, gathering information for placement, and writing case histories and recommendations regarding inmate

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a major in criminal justice, corrections, psychology, sociology, counseling, criminology, social work or related field.
• Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in inmate counseling, security or treatment in a correctional setting or in counseling, probation and parole.
• Master’s Degree may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Five years of experience at a Correctional Officer 2 or higher may substitute for training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with housing referrals, birth certificates, social security and Medicaid applications.

Job description

Under direct supervision, this position will be responsible for verifying offender participation in substance abuse disorder treatment programs, including community medically assisted treatment (MAT) clinics upon intake; communicate and coordinate with the offender’s current MAT provider. The Corrections Case Manager will link offenders reentering the community with clinics and providers that offer the MAT of their choice to engagement specialists, connecting offenders leaving our custody with necessary community resources, follow-up care, aid with housing referrals and assisting with birth certificate, social security and Medicaid applications.

May assist in the development and implementation of treatment programs, developing case histories, gathering collateral information on placement, treatment and court information for inmates, writing reports and recommendations regarding inmate behavior and placement. Performs related duties as assigned.

Training

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in criminal justice, corrections, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling and guidance, criminology, social work or related field.

Substitution (Training)

Experience in an area of corrections programming or treatment may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.

Experience

Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in inmate counseling, security or treatment in a correctional setting or in counseling, counseling and guidance, as a probation and parole officer, mental health counselor or social worker.

Substitution (Experience)

Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, corrections, social work or related behavioral science field may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitution for required training and experience: Five years of experience at a Correctional Officer 2 or higher
