Job summary

The Department of Corrections – Behavioral Health in Pierre, SD is seeking a full-time behavioral health professional to provide substance use disorder services to the offender population, including evaluations, assessments, and clinical interventions.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in related field, preferred licensure (LAC or CAC), strong counseling skills, and the ability to work in a correctional environment with strong professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in alcohol and drug abuse studies, counseling, psychology or related field.
• Licensure in SD as Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) or Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) preferred; ACT considered depending on education/experience.
• Ability to work in a correctional facility and comply with safety and program standards.

Responsibilities

• Screen, assess, diagnose, and plan treatment for offenders.
• Provide group and individual counseling and psychoeducational services.
• Monitor treatment and maintain accurate documentation for continuity of care.
