BOARD OF CORRECTION seeks a Standards Specialist (Monitor) to oversee conditions across NYC jails, court pens, and hospital wards. The role requires collaboration with administration, monitoring, legal and research staff to ensure compliance with the Board’s Minimum Standards.

Ideal candidates have a Master’s degree in a related field and at least three years in government or nonprofit settings, with strong writing and data-analysis skills. Bilingual abilities, especially Spanish, are a plus.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree in a social science discipline, public policy or related field.
• Three years of government, nonprofit, or comparable experience preferred.
• Experience at a regulatory agency or advocating before a regulatory agency preferred.
• Bilingual abilities such as Spanish are a plus.

Aufgaben

• Conduct regular tours of assigned jails, court pens, hospital wards.
• Provide written and oral reports on conditions and minimum standards.
• Enforce the Minimum Standards by visiting jails and addressing complaints.
• Analyze DOC compliance with standards, decrees, and policies.
• Prepare written reports on investigations, surveys, and analyses.
• Provide technical assistance to DOC administrators to improve conditions.
