Job summary

Oklahoma Department of Corrections is hiring Correctional Security Officers to serve at facilities across the state. Selected applicants will attend an 8-week live-in academy in Oklahoma City and then begin work with a Field Training Officer, subject to facility assignments chosen in the initial application.

Lodging and meals are provided during the academy; compensation includes officer and corporal levels with set pay and benefits, and opportunities to advance after training.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of English usage, basic math and reporting.
• Ability to use and maintain firearms and restraint methods.
• Understanding psychology of inmate behavior and conflict management.

Responsibilities

• Provide security and supervision to inmates across shifts and posts.
• Escort inmates to work sites and manage inmate conduct and discipline.
• Patrol yards, cell houses, and corridors; observe activities and report incidents.
• Perform counts, searches for contraband, and secure equipment and keys.
• Prepare clear written reports and participate in incident response.
