The GEO Group, Inc. in Florida is seeking dedicated professionals to supervise inmates and maintain safety across living, dining, and recreation areas.

This full-time role emphasizes discipline, clear communication, and adherence to facility policies within a leading provider of rehabilitation services. You will coordinate inmate movements, monitor activities, and respond to emergencies, contributing to secure facilities and successful reentry outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Preference for college coursework in behavioral sciences or related field.
• Ability to work overtime as required and handle physical and mental stress.
• Possession of applicable state requisites for employment and valid driver's license if required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor inmates in living, recreation, dining, and visitation areas.
• Coordinate their movement (counts and emergency responses).
• Ensure safety of program activities and supervise labor crews.
• Conduct shakedowns for contraband and confiscate prohibited items.
• Keep daily logs and report injuries or incidents.
• Assist inmates and respond to medical or trauma situations.
• Report maintenance needs to keep facility clean.

Responsibilities

In this job, you will:

• Supervise and monitor inmates in living, recreation, dining, and visitation areas.
• Coordinate their movement (conducting counts and providing emergency response as needed).
• Make sure program activities stay safe and supervise labor crews.
• Conduct shakedowns for contraband materials (by yourself or with your team) and confiscate prohibited items as per policies and procedures.
• Keep daily logs on inmates (including disciplinary reports).
• Provide prompt and appropriate assistance to those who have been injured, ill, or have suffered trauma.
• Report any maintenance or repair needs to keep your facility clean.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

You must be mature, flexible, with the ability to command the respect and confidence of inmates and staff and possess a high tolerance to mental stress. Working experience in a correctional setting is preferred.

Additional Requirements Include

• High school diploma or equivalent certification.
• College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field, preferred.
• Possession of applicable state requisites for employment.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Ability to handle physical and mental stress associated with working extended hours.
• Must be able to regularly report to work without being late.
• Ability to be physically alert on any shift that is assigned.
• Ability to work up to sixteen (16) hours within a rolling 24 hour period.
• May be required to possess valid state driver’s license.
• Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity, preferred.
