Ply University in Smyrna, Delaware seeks a Correctional Officer/Stores Warehouse Supervisor to oversee the central supply warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, clothing, equipment, perishable foods, frozen goods and hazardous materials.

This role maintains records of supply transactions, verifies items against requisitions and invoices, manages stock levels and inventory, and trains inmates in storekeeping procedures to ensure smooth, compliant operations.

Qualifications

  • At least one year experience as a Correctional Officer or equivalent.
  • Six months experience in managing the acquisition, warehousing and distribution of inventory.
  • Six months experience in inventory control such as ordering, receiving, tracking, storing and handling inventory.
  • Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
  • Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, training, or leading others; OR supervising staff.
  • Possession of a valid CDL Class A OR B Driver's License.

Summary Statement

This is the third level in the series responsible for supervising a central supply warehouse operation.

Essential Functions
  • Receives, stores, and issues supplies, clothing, equipment, perishable foods, frozen goods and hazardous materials.
  • Maintains records of supply transactions.
  • Verifies that supplies, clothing, equipment, perishable foods, frozen goods and hazardous materials received are listed on requisitions and invoices.
  • Checks supplies, clothing, equipment, perishable foods, frozen goods and hazardous materials in order to maintain proper stock levels.
  • Maintains physical inventory of goods.
  • Fills out supply forms such as requisitions, issue slips and receipt documents.
  • Delivers supplies to various institutional facilities or areas.
  • Trains and supervises inmates in storekeeping procedures and assigns work.
Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Correctional Officer/Stores Warehouse Supervisor

  • At least one year experience as a Correctional Officer or equivalent experience.
  • Six months experience in managing the acquisition, warehousing and distribution of inventory.
  • Six months experience in inventory control such as ordering, receiving, tracking, storing and handling inventory; disbursing materials, supplies and equipment.
  • Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
  • Knowledge of staff supervision acquired through course work, academic training, training provided through an employer, or performing as a lead worker overseeing the work of others; OR supervising staff which may include planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others; OR supervising through subordinate supervisors a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees.
  • Possession of a valid CDL Class A OR B Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
