Job summary

US Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System seeks Corrections professionals to foster humane and secure environments and promote public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

Candidates must meet education and experience requirements: GL-07/GL-08 levels, with graduate education in criminal justice or related fields, and experience in inmate processing, mail handling, and custody coordination. A medical fitness standard applies to this position.

Qualifications

GL-07: Graduate education in criminal justice, social science, or related field; no substitution for education at this grade.
GL-08: No substitution of education for specialized experience for this grade.
Experience at GL-07/GL-08 level including duties in receiving/admitting offenders, mail handling and rail/test processing, and related inmate information systems.

Responsibilities

Experience in receiving and admitting newly committed offenders, including proper disposition of personal property.
Experience in mail handling procedures, logs, and processing materials for accountability.
Experience in relaying information on receiving/discharge and mail room operations to inmates.
Experience in running reports and verifying information via Sentry (clearances, histories, releasable information).
Experience coordinating exchanges of custody with federal and non-federal agencies.
