The Iowa Department of Corrections' Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility is seeking a dedicated Correctional Officer to help maintain safety and order. You will support, motivate and influence change in incarcerated individuals while working on a diverse team within a minimum custody, male facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Background investigation and psychological tests may be required.
• Post-offer health screen and urinalysis for drugs are required.

Responsabilités

• Provide security and care to incarcerated individuals while ensuring staff and inmate safety.
• Patrol facilities, perform security checks, and inspect areas for safety deficiencies.
• Verify inmate counts and monitor activity across the institution.
• Interact with inmates to support problem solving and reinforce positive behavior.
• Instruct inmates on policy and expectations; assist in developing life skills and attitudes.
• Supervise inmate work assignments and evaluate performance.
