Job summary

National Police in Kentucky is seeking a custody officer to process inmates, supervise work release, control inmate movement, and provide routine medical care.

The role also maintains the corrections database and prioritizes the physical welfare of prisoners; candidates should have high school diploma, some corrections experience, and be prepared to pass medical, drug, and agility screenings; fluency with the Jail Custody Division Policy Manual is expected.

Salary: $24.08 to $26.61

Essential Functions:

  • Processes Inmates, Conducts Work Release Program, Controls Inmate Movement, and Provides Routine Medical Care to Prisoners.
  • Maintains Corrections Data Base, and Exhibits Concern for the Physical Welfare of All Prisoners.

Requirements:

  • Corrections Experience Desired.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • He/She must be capable of obtaining a working knowledge of Jail Duties.
  • He/She must be capable of becoming fluent in the LCSO Custody Division Policy Manual.
  • He/She must possess sound interpersonal skills which would enable them to work with fellow staff, prisoners, court officers, and the general public.
  • He/she must meet and pass medical exam and minimum standards, pass pre-employment drug screen, and pre-employment physical agility screen.
