County of Solano is seeking entry-level Correctional Officers to supervise inmates in a detention facility, learning to handle diverse inmate populations including mentally disturbed, sick, injured, and non-English speaking individuals. This role involves rotation between Floor Officer and Control Room Officer positions under general supervision.
No prior experience is required; however, applicants must demonstrate possession of and competency in requisite knowledge and abilities.
Correctional Officers under general supervision, perform a number of activities related to the supervision of inmates in a detention facility. This is an entry level position in the Correctional Officer series in which you learn to perform a variety of tasks to supervise and control inmates in a detention facility. You are responsible for supervising the mentally disturbed, sick, injured, and non‑English speaking inmates/prisoners accused or convicted the full range of violations and crimes. Assignments are rotated among Floor Officer, Control Room Officer positions.

BACKGROUND: A Peace Officer Standard & Training (POST) background investigation is required prior to the start of employment. A Personal History Statement (PHS) is a part of this investigation.
