Job summary

Goose Creek Correctional Complex in Wasilla, Alaska is recruiting Correctional Officer 1s. You will begin a structured training path, learn to enforce rules, and contribute to rehabilitation while protecting the public.

New hires undergo 12–14 months of field training and attend the Correctional Officer Academy. This 84-hour work week uses a week-on/week-off schedule with day/night shifts; moving incentives may be available.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years old and a US citizen or national.
• High school diploma or GED recognized by state/local district.
• Ability to obtain APSC certificate within 14 months.

Responsibilities

• Follow oral and written instructions and maintain security.
• Learn and apply self-defense, firearms, and use of force as needed.
• Read statutes and procedures, explain them to the public and inmates.
• Assist in maintaining order, operate security controls, and support rehabilitation.
