Job summary

The Alaska Department of Corrections is seeking a Correctional Officer 3 for the Recruitment and Retention Unit in Anchorage. This role focuses on outreach and assisting with the recruitment of DOC employees across the state's 13 facilities.

Telework may be offered after training; weekends and travel are occasionally required. A background, medical, and drug screening will be completed prior to admission, with a U.S. citizenship and age requirement as stated.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Alaska Correctional Officer Academy, or equivalent program accredited by the Alaska Police Standards Council.
• One year of experience performing duties which support the custody, security, and rehabilitation of prisoners in an adult correctional institution.
• Must be 21+ years old; U.S. citizen or national; high school diploma or GED; or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruitment of Department of Corrections employees, including outreach to applicants.
• Support hiring managers department-wide to address staffing and recruitment needs.
• Provide instructions at the DOC Training Academy or perform other correctional officer duties as needed.
• Occasionally work weekends/nights for outreach events and travel as required.
